Where’s the Justice?

The Trayvon Martin story is tragic. It’s one that exists because of racism. It calls upon a long history of black people being lynched while perpetrators have total impunity. It calls upon a long history of Americans being told time and time again that people of color are criminals, they’re ‘illegals,’ they’re ‘welfare moms,’ and drug addicts. You see this in our police force, you see this in our criminal ‘justice’ system, you see it in our toxic political debates, you see this as we disenfranchise people of color in record numbers, and you see it in everyday Americans of all backgrounds who internalize this racist garbage. Enough is enough. We must demand an end to the systemic racism that so deeply pervades our country. For all the people of color we’ve lost, we must decry a system that has no justice.
